A Night in Piedmont without ever leaving South Florida…that’s the kind of escapism Vino DeSantis Wine Store & Bar offers to seasoned oenophiles and new comers alike! Attending wine dinners like this gives everyone a chance to rub elbows with fellow wine lovers, while dining at some of South Florida’s best restaurants too!
Being a customer at Vino DeSantis is like joining an exclusive club, where the best wines await the curious wine lover, one ounce at a time, or by the case…whatever you prefer.
They do offer a membership program unlike any other I have ever seen! With 72 different bottles of red and white wines “on tap”, why would anyone go to any other wine shop? Just stop by, load up a Vino DeSantis Membership Card with some money, and start tasting any and all of the 72 different wines perfectly preserved in the most modern enomatic wine dispensing machines on the face of the Earth! Ask manager Lisa about certain amounts that you can put on the card to get a few bonus dollars added on the spot. Example: If you place $50.00 on the card, they will add $10.00 making it worth $60.00!
I stopped at Vino DeSantis before going to Pete’s Café Bella Sera for the A Night in Piedmont wine dinner to meet with General Manager Lisa Trites. Vino DeSantis would be sponsoring the wine dinner at the restaurant later this evening, and I wanted to get a good look at this ultra-modern wine boutique beforehand.
Lisa showed me the excellent wines we would taste at Pete’s Café Bella Sera later that night and they included, Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis 2007 White; Luigi Einaudi “Vigna Tecc” Dogliani Dolcetto 2008; Renato Ratti Barbera D’Alba “ Torriglione” 2004; Pelissero Barbaresco Nubiola 2004; Conterno Fantino Barolo 1999 and for dessert Icardi Moscato D’Asti 2007. This lush lineup of excellent wines is all available for purchase or immediate tasting at Vino DeSantis.
Enjoy this short video presentation of A Night in Piedmont at Café Bella Sera, as a well as a look inside Vino DeSantis. I am pretty sure you will be craving some wine, meatballs and antipasto soon after! Alla Vita Dolce!
Each wine listed was carefully paired with cuisine from Chef Pete Lombard, owner of Café Bella Sera. Hailing from the north end of Boston, Peter J. Lombard, Jr. is the Owner and Executive Chef of Pete’s Café Bella Sera & Steakhouse and has been creating culinary delights for over 25 years, mostly here in South Florida. Chef Pete spent the early parts of his professional career serving as Executive Chef of the Fort Lauderdale landmark restaurant, Anthony’s Runway 84, for over 16 years.
Love the Way the Server is Displaying Cafe Bella Sera's Beautiful Meat Balls! We added Whipped Ricotta Too!
His experience there served as the catalyst he needed to move forward with his own concepts and creations. Pete is a dynamic personality, and truly knows how to and loves preparing Italian food.
As usual I am thinking, “Being raised Italian by my Grandmother Francesca Ferrara, I consider myself an expert of Italian cuisine…” so I was ready to go!
We dined at a leisurely pace, while well dressed waiters “French” served all food table side, and smooth as silk. During Antipasta, including stuffed Cubanelle peppers, prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, roasted red peppers, Greek olives and a variety of Italian meats, we enjoyed a bubbly-cold Tacco Prosecco NV. As this course came to an end, we moved into the delicious Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis 2007 white wine. Really one of the most interesting wines of the night, and one of only three white wines of the event. I kept mine long after the other’s glasses were cleared…and will drink this again, probably from the Enomatic Machine at Vino DeSantis!
From the Meatballs and Anitpasta, to the pastas, New York Strip, Sauteed Veal Medallions and myriad of other authentic Italiano dishes, far too many to mention here, to the Canolis, Pete’s Cafe Bella Sera does Italian right. Two of my favorite dishes of the night were the Prime NY Strip and the Veal Sicilian, both sliced out and served with green and red bell peppers, onions and rosemary potatoes. Straight up goodness from a chef who cares…everyone enjoyed the food and the private room we were afforded for the evening.
Visit Vino DeSantis soon and join in the excitement. Catch live music there Friday and Saturday nights too! A visit to Pete’s Cafe Bella Sera is another good idea… tell them both that Tom House and DinnerReviews.com© sent you.
