Tuna Tartare Amazingly Fresh and Delicious

In order for restaurants of today to become relevant players in the most competitive industry this side of electronics, they must keep up with the times. Today’s eateries are charged with offering attractive ambiance, excellent food, great service and fair pricing…a formula that’s easy to say in a few words, but much more difficult to create.

Enter “contemporary American steakhouse” Brimstone Woodfire Grill, in The Shops at Pembroke Gardens. Brimstone has quickly moved to the forefront of the more than sixteen other restaurants vying for the dedicated dining dollar in this Pembroke Pines restaurant haven. The competition here is stiff, but Brimstone is holding their own, and for good reason. It’s clearly all about the food and service here, with just the right amount of sophisticated ambiance. Perfect for that important business meeting or your kid’s birthday party…Brimstone Woodfire Grill is ideal for any kind of event at lunch or dinner.

We gathered in one of the private rooms for cocktails, and were soon enjoying a wide variety of cuisine from Brimstone’s extensive menu. Starting with an incredible Tuna Tartare made with avocado and finished with ponzu sauce, this creation also had an added crunch of friend won tons mixed into it. As soon as my fork dug into this artful creation, it collapsed on the plate announcing its just-made-freshness to everyone at the table. Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche and Tempura Shrimp Roll also impressed me with distinctive flavors and off the chart presentations! But this is no sushi bar friends…read on!

This is comfort food at its best. Dishes ranging from the Asian specialties described above, all the way to Baby Back Ribs, Flat Iron Steak and Grilled Salmon with hoisin glaze, Blackened Mahi Mahi with linguine, Crispy Parmesan Chicken and Wonton Noodle Stir Fry.

There are at least two soups a day and more than 25 choices of appetizers, flat breads, soups and salads to keep your interest through many visits. We enjoyed a piping hot Prosciutto and Field Greens Pizza before main courses too.

For main courses we decided to share several items, including a blackened Bone in Rib Eye, an 8-ounce Filet Mignon Oscar style, Chilean Sea Bass, Snapper with shrimp and scallops, and Lamb Loin medium rare. A Pecan Crusted Trout with citrus chardonnay sauce was exceptional, and possibly my favorite of the evening.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Adjectives

Brimstone is a licensed, registered provider of Certified Angus Beef, and all steaks are seasoned and prepared in their 1600 degree broiler. We shared all these amazing meals and had an excellent time. Service was extremely attentive and professional at all times, yet the servers never forgot to be smilingly pleasant.

We did an earlier review of Brimstone’s sister restaurant, Piñon Grill and noted similar high quality attributes. Managing Director Kevin Blair and his team clearly know exactly what they are doing, and it shows.  I always say there is no room for Automatic Pilot in the restaurant business, and these two restaurants show what passion and dedication can bring to a restaurant…success!

Delicious Chocolate Lover's Brownie

After all the scraped plates were cleared, we moved on to dessert. White Chocolate Bread Pudding with berry compoteand a side of whip cream, a Peanut Butter Pie made with Oreo Cookie crust filled with peanut butter mousse and covered in chocolate ganache.  Finally a decadent Quad-Chocolate Brownie simply covered in vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.
